When you buy pigeons in Sydney (or anywhere else in New South Wales), there is one rule you need to be aware of.
The law states that if you are a registered active member of the Pigeon Fanciers Association or Racing Association, you may keep up to 150 pigeons on your property. For non-members, the number is restricted to 50 pigeons.
Like we have found all over the world, few individual lofts have their own retail platforms. Most pigeons for sale in Sydney are to be found on free ads sites. These are the ones we found with the best or most listings.
1. Pigeon Sales Australia
One of the most renowned racing pigeon breeders in Australia, Group 1 Lofts sells birds with proven pedigree with many top performers in the South Australian Homing Pigeon Association.
Group 1 Lofts sell hundreds of birds from their webshop listings and also holds regular auctions.
This seller is best used by seasoned racing pigeon owners rather than beginners.
Each bird comes with a full pedigree card and prices are only available on application.
As an Amazon Associate we may earn a small commission on purchases made through any Amazon links, this helps support us, thank you.

2. Sydney Racing Pigeon Society
As well as providing all sorts of information about racing pigeons and racing in Australia, the Sydney Pigeon Racing Society allows members to list pigeons for sale.
It also lists catalogues from past auctions which acts as a resource for lofts all over Australia.
Using the list is a bit of a labour of love because it means accessing each entry to find the website/contact details for each loft.
3. Kangaroo Classifieds
Kangaroo Classifieds has nationwide coverage but it offers sort options that work very well so the search results are well-targeted to the area you seek.
At the time of writing, the site had a good number of ads and they covered a wide range of types and breeds.
The types included racing pigeons, roller pigeons and frillbacks.
Breeds included king pigeon, old German owl pigeon, classic Modena and archangel pigeon.
4. FindAds
Find Ads is a search engine that checks all classifieds in Australia in response to a user request.
The spread of results depends on the search range you request.
You can also sign up for email alerts to be notified as new adverts are placed.
At the time of writing, there were 130+ listings for pigeons for sale with ads for homing pigeons, archangel pigeons and Lahore pigeons.
5. Gumtree Australia
Gumtree Australia is one of the world’s favourite free ads sites but we think it falls a little behind Kangaroo Classifieds and FindAds. These two have much better and more targeted results.
The top search is regional rather than tightly localised although there are then options to narrow the search down to specific locations.
There were a decent number of ads at the time of writing but quite a lot were for pigeon lofts and boxes.
Breeds advertised included fantail pigeons, English carrier pigeons, nun pigeons and helmet pigeons.
